Why is anything raised to the power of zero equal to one?

i dont understand this at ALL!!! please explain! very descriptive and ooo give examples!

love ya guys

clm|||See it this way:

a^n / a^n = a^(n-n) = a^0...exponencial laws

Also, a^n / a^n = 1, like n / n = 1

Then,

anything^0 = 1|||Alright its very simple.

Get some paper and scissors, say you take a piece of paper and cut it once how many pieces do you get? Two.

So if I tell you to cut a piece of paper 0 times how many pieces do you have?|||I am not sure but it will always be that way for some reason. I think I am going to ask my geometry teacher why tommorrow.
