Is there a northern equivalent of a southern belle?

Just wondering, lol.|||Well, there's a few cultural references to different versions of a princess, but using the terms are derogatory. Essentially, a Southern belle is a gift unto her own. If there were a term it would start with Yankee, as that was the era that term started being used.

edit: Ayverie is right, it is a specific profile of the type of woman, a behavior and way of being that makes a belle - they were quite distinct and there was no equivalent to them at the time.|||I don't think so. A "southern belle" embodies characteristics valued by southern culture. There may be something similar in the north, but it won't really mean the same type of person.|||New Joysey: Babe

New York| Dish, Dame

Massachusetts: Lady

Pennsylvania: Schatz
