Will I still be able to do ballet?

Well, I'm 12, and I really want to start ballet. The thing is, most people my age in ballet classses would already be on pointe. SO what are the chances of me getting on pointe? And how long were you in ballet before you started? Thanks, clm! :)|||It took me 10 years to get on pointe but that is only because i started when i was 2. Most dance studios won't let you take pointe until you are at a certain level or psychically ready. The reason they won't let you on pointe right away is because they don't want you to ruin your ankles and not be able to dance anymore. If your ankles seem strong to a teacher they may let you try pointe if not they probably will just have you stick with ballet. And normally there is two separate classes one for pointe and one for ballet. Some studios also do it by age so when you are blank age you can start pointe but then can be dangerous if your growth plate (on your ankles) aren't closed. Even if you can't do pointe try dancing it is so much fun! But i hope everything works out! And i hope i helped you in some way!|||These are a few websites with exercises to strengthen your ankles

|||i agree with the first answer and when you start dancing maybe after about 2 years you will get them. Plus you could still be in there pointe class with out pointe shoes I actually did that for a while and it was totally fine.

if you want to get stronger ankles and calves faster you could do relevees (hold on to a table or something or chair and go up on the ball of your foot and then down again.) do this for a long time and then when you start to feel you legs burning it is working. when you feel more comfortable with doing this on two feet you can try one foot.

hope this helped! good luck!|||Pointe does not always go by age. Most dance schools won't let you start pointe until your 12. But you also have to have teacher permission. If you dance good they might let you take it next year. It also has to do with your feet development. If you don't have strong feet you can't do pointe.|||You will need to take ballet classes before you start pointe. I was in ballet when I was 5, and didn't start pointe until 8 years after that when I was 13. You need to make sure that you are pretty much as big as you are going to get, and that you're done growing. This is so you don't injure your feet. You should definately sign up for ballet, take it for a year or two, and then move on to pointe. Good luck! :)|||Yes you can definatly still start ballet. I'm 13 and on pointe, but i've been dancing it since i was three. ballet dancers don't really develop their muscles until later on in their training, and if you train hard enough, there is no reason why you can't be a ballet dancer. Good Luck!! :) xx
